Morecambe offers a host of things to see and do, particularly for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. A cycle ride down the 5-mile expanse of the Promenade will blow away the cobwebs, or you can take it at a slower pace and enjoy a walk along this landscaped pathway, taking in the artworks of the TERN project (don't miss the Eric Morecambe statue!) and enjoying the ever-changing panorama of Morecambe Bay.

The Bay is one of the UK's most diverse habitats for wildlife and you can spot oystercatchers, knot, curlew and perhaps even peregrines in these expansive saltmarshes - it is truly a birdwatcher's paradise.

As well as walking and biking, Morecambe also offers watersports such as kitesurfing and sailing - take to the water and see the Bay in a whole new light.

As you travel along the promenade, you're sure to come across the Art Deco landmark of the beautiful Midland Hotel. Lovingly restored to its former glory, this is the perfect place for a short break, evening meal, or even just a coffee or glass of wine overlooking the beach and seascape.
For rainer days, Morecambe has a number of indoor attractions. Adjacent to the Retail Park where you can shop at DW Sports, Next, Homebase and Morrison's - there is the very popular Morecambe Superbowl which is open 7 days a week and offers reasonably-priced games and food. Morecambe also has a 4-screen cinema, Reel, showing the latest blockbusters and screenings of prestigious Royal Opera House and Bolshoi Ballet performances.

Lancaster is a gem of culture which belies its small size. It boasts 3 theatres (the Grand, the Dukes and the Nuffield at the University) and a large cinema. The nightlife is complemented by a number of welcoming pubs - many offering music events, comedy nights or modern food and drink - with a twist! Indian, Chinese, Thai and Italian cuisine is represented in the many restaurants, and you can find a number of cosy boutique cafes serving great coffee and homemade cakes.
During the day, visit one of Lancaster's museums - the historical City Museum, the compact Cottage Museum or the fascinating Maritime Museum - situated in the old Customs House on St George's Quay. And no visit to Lancaster is complete without a visit to the Castle - take a tour of the spooky cells, majestic Shire Hall, imposing courtroom and macabre Drop Room.
